Misko-kaakigan opichi (Red-breasted robin)

Art by Jasmine Culp

This is a song we use at school in Cook County. We learned the song from Ben at Scaredy Cat Music in Grand Marais, but it is one we know has been sung in many places.

We’ve changed it just a little to help Ojibwe language learners have fun with the names for each bird.It is fun to dance like each bird while singing it or make hand motions to represent each bird as you sing it while sitting down.

We hope you enjoy singing it!
