Scooby-Doo Where Are You?
Scooby-Doo Aapiish Aayaayin? (Scooby-Doo Where Are You?)
This song is translated from the Ode’min Kwe Singers CD, “New Moon Medicine.” As with many songs, an exact translation is not possible in order to maintain the melody and timing of the song. This three line version provides the original lyrics last with the Anishinaabemowin and literal lyrics first (when different) so that students can learn the meaning easily.
Dialect Note: Speakers can use either “aapiish” or “aaniindi” when asking “where.” This song was originally sung in Michigan and Ontario where speakers use “aapiish.” If you are in Manitoba, Wisconsin or Minnesota, feel free to insert “aaniindi” and sing for your little Scoobies!
Translated by Howard Kimewon and Margaret Noodin. Sung by Margaret Noodin with help from her daughters, Shannon and Fionna.
Mom, nagamtawshin?
