Verb Type 1 – When Something is Not Happening

Sometimes it is important or most efficient to say something is not happening.

Always use “gaawiin + verb + sinoo/zinoo”

Think about the ending of your Verb Type 1

  • If it ends in “aa” or “o” add “sinoo”
  • If it ends in “d” – remove the “d” and add “sinoo”
  • If it ends in “an” – add “zinoo”

For example:

Examples:

Dibaajimowinan gaawiin debwemigasinoon. The stories are not true.

Gaawiin michaasinoo mazinaabikiwebinigan. The computer is not big.
